Bloomberg: Germany is set to spend 11 billion Euros on armaments

On Friday, Bloomberg quoted informed sources as saying that German lawmakers will approve, early next month, an arms purchase worth 11 billion Euros.

According to sources in Berlin, the German federal government intends to buy from the United States 60 Boeing Chinook helicopters and three maritime surveillance ships for 11 billion Euros ($11.9 billion).

The sources, who requested anonymity, said that the ruling coalition headed by Chancellor Olaf Scholz requested approval to spend 9.6 billion Euros on the purchase of 60 CH47-F helicopters, and an additional 750 million Euros for infrastructure and maintenance.

The informed sources added that members of parliament in the budget committee of the lower house of parliament would approve the spending plans in a session to be held in Berlin on July 5.
