Bloomberg quoted informed sources as saying that Germany is considering purchasing 4 more Patriot air defense systems for $1.3 billion, as Germany’s Patriot reserves have been exhausted.

Bloomberg indicated that a new application could be submitted in addition to the current application.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also stated that his country would provide Ukraine with another Patriot system, and he expressed his hope that NATO countries would be able to supply Ukraine with six more Patriot systems.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said earlier that Germany’s Patriot reserves had been exhausted, vowing to buy air defense systems for Kiev from third countries.

Germany had supplied Ukraine with two Patriot air defense systems.

The Financial Times newspaper revealed earlier that the European Union countries reject Kiev’s request to provide it with the Patriot air defense system.

The Financial Times, quoting a source familiar with the progress of the negotiations, reported that Kiev needs seven batteries, noting that it’s currently trying to persuade Spain, Poland and Romania to transfer the Patriot missiles it has to Ukraine.
