6 Ukrainian soldiers killed when two helicopters crashed inside a Russian-controlled area

Six servicemen on board two helicopters were killed while carrying out tasks in the east of the country, the Ukrainian military said on Wednesday.

The Ukrainian army statement didn’t mention what exactly happened on Tuesday to the two helicopters, the widely used Mi-8.

An army statement posted on Telegram said the soldiers were “carrying out missions” in the Russian-controlled eastern sector of Bakhmut when they were killed.

According to Sources in Ukraine the incident took place near Kramatorsk, a large town west of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region.

The two Ukrainian helicopters were completely destroyed and the bodies were found at the site.

A spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, Yevhen Rakita, said that the dead were officers, and their identities won’t be revealed for security reasons.
