Putin signs law confiscating officials’ funds if they don’t prove the legitimacy of its sources

President Vladimir Putin signed a law confiscating corruption funds from the accounts of officials if they couldn’t prove the legitimacy of their sources.

The law provides for the transfer of funds deposited in the accounts of the corrupt official into state revenues if the total amount on his accounts exceeds the volume of his revenues within three years.

The text of the law indicated that these funds will be confiscated if the owner is unable to prove the legitimacy of their sources.
