Washington: $10 million for information on the REvil cyber organization

The US State Department announced, on Monday, a reward of up to 10 million US dollars for any information that leads to the identification of the location or any individual holding a key leadership position in the criminal organization “REvil” specialized in electronic piracy.

The Ministry also announced offering a reward of up to five million dollars for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of any individual in any country who conspires to participate in or attempts to participate in the work of the organization (Ransomware Evil; also known as Sodinokibi).

In a statement, it said REvil was responsible for the ransomware incident perpetrated against JBS Foods, a company that supplies agricultural products primarily to Australia and the United States, causing significant disruption to food processing and delivery.

“By offering this reward, the United States is demonstrating its commitment to protecting ransomware victims around the world from exploitation by cybercriminals, and working with countries willing to bring these criminals to justice”.
