Belgium appeals to Germany to receive Covid-19 patients

Belgium has appealed to Germany to receive Belgian Covid-19 patients in its hospitals due to the exhaustion of energy in intensive care units in Belgium, with the arrival of large numbers of people infected with the virus.

The Belgian News Agency, “Belga”, quoted the head of emergency medical aid, Marcel van der Ora, as saying that some hospitals no longer had available central care beds.

The media outlets indicated that there are plans to treat Covid-19 patients in North Rhine-Westphalia, which borders Belgium, but the federal government has not yet been involved in this plan and procedures for organizing the transfer of patients.

During the past two weeks, the average of new infections with the Coronavirus in Belgium reached 450 cases per 100,000 people, a slight decrease compared to previous weeks, while the death rate rose slightly to about 40 cases per day.
